DESIGN OF MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING SYSTEMS – RADIANT HEATING AND COOLING

City of Corcoran, CA

The 10,850 sq. ft. facility is located at the north side of the Corcoran Civic Center site fronting Hanna Avenue. The building was designed as a essential services facility per 2007 California CBC, will be built using straw bale construction and includes an alternate for photovoltaic panels on the roof.

The building includes six holding cells, dispatch center, radio room, showers, lockers, evidence room, investigative unit, offices, emergency operations center, and training facility. The mechanical systems consist of ground source low temperature chiller-boilers serving a radiant cooling and heating system, a Dedicated Outside Air System CDOAS) with four rooftop air handling systems serving the building, grey water recycling system, and rooftop thermal solar water heating. Included is an approximate 44 space secure parking lot, on-street parking.

The project has been submitted to the USGBC for LEED certification and to the serving utility for Savings By Design incentive payments.
